Sumter School District’s Academics Department assesses, evaluates, and curates curriculum to ensure that all students are college and career ready when they graduate. Federal programs, the Multilingual Learner Program (MLP), Gifted and Talented, Career and Technology Education, Instructional Technology, Assessment, and Accountability all fall under the purview of the Academic Department.

Furman Middle School has received a $44,000 Arts Now Grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission. This grant supports integrating the arts into the school's education programs, provides professional development opportunities for teachers, and encourages collaboration with community partners to bring meaningful and diverse arts expereicnes to students.
